A Turning Point: Feedback, Growth, and Improving My Translations
Introduction ✨
Hello again, community! At this stage of my project, I experienced an important turning point. After working consistently on my translations, I was waiting to see if they would be approved and how they would be received.
Development ✨
After waiting for about two weeks, I finally received feedback on my work. Out of the 100 strings I translated, 89 were approved, and 11 required changes. At first, I felt really happy and proud because most of my translations were accepted. It showed me that my work was on the right track and that my effort paid off. However, I was also a bit concerned about the 11 rejected strings. I wanted to understand what I did wrong and how I could improve.
When I reviewed the feedback, I realized that the main issue was related to the use of second-person Spanish (Costa Rica), as you can see in the picture below. I hadn’t used it correctly in some translations. This was a very important learning moment for me. I understood that:
Translation is not always about how we speak casually
It’s about using the most natural and appropriate form for the context
Following language conventions is key to creating quality translations
After understanding this, I went back to review my translations and paid more attention to how I used tone and formality.
This experience was a major turning point in my project. It helped me understand the importance of feedback and how much I can improve from it. Even though some translations were not accepted at first, the feedback helped me grow and refine my skills. Now I feel more confident and aware of how to translate more accurately.
Next, I will apply these improvements to future translations and continue contributing with higher quality work 💪🌎
This is my fifth post out of eight, so stay tuned for the upcoming ones and join me on this adventure 🚀
